Today, August 19, is Earth Overshoot Day. That means that in just eight months, the Earth’s 7 billion inhabitants have used up a year’s worth of the Earth’s resources.
For the remaining four months of the year we’re living on borrowed time - from our children and grandchildren.
Or to look at it another way, we’d need 1.5 Earths to sustainably support our current level of consumption worldwide. And by mid-century we’ll need two Earths.
Sound like a global problem beyond our control?
